Participate in CENSUS 2020! Census is a Seed!

The Korean Resource Center is launching a contactless 2020 census campaign "CENSUS is a SEED".

Starting on 22th February, 2020 Korean Resource Center has placed a postcard titled "Census is a Deed" at Hannam Chain, Kaju Market, Olympic Galleria, and Korean Market in Los Angeles. The postcard was painted on the border with the five colors of the index representing the Korean people, and the pots of sprouts grew in them. The pots were attached to small bags of California poppy seed and wildflower seeds that could be planted.

The Korean Resource Center originally planned to create a headband and T-shirt that symbolized the sprout sprouts, and go to door to door. However, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rise, we decided to launch in a non-direct contact way.

In particular, the CENSUS begins in the warm spring, breaking the long winter of this year when the weather was bad. In addition, participating in the survey will bring real benefits to our community over the next decade. Based on this, the Korean Resource Center decided to make a catchphrase: "Census is a seed."

Choi Kyung-Hee, one of the campaign organizer at Korean Resource Center, said, "As of April 19, the Census Bureau data showed the average participation rate for the Census in California was 51.7%. However, the participation rate for Korean-Korean residents in Los Angeles, which is slightly lower than the average 40%." "We hope that as the census participation period has been extended, many Koreans will participate."

"Despite the troubled times of coronavirus, we started a contactless postcard campaign to remind us of the importance of census," he said, "and the government's budget for returning to our community depends on how many people are involved in the census. Let's take part in the investigation with the spirit of sowing the seeds in the spring."
